My neighbor Sue mentioned she was going out of town next week. She started talking about her sister coming over to check on her cat and get her mail (her sister lives 30 minutes away). I offered to do both [which most neighbors do (or should)] because it's a couple minutes out of my day and she was so excited b/c her sister thought it was an inconvenience for her!!

Little things...
Submitted by aileenstevens on Mon, 07/13/2009 - 3:15pm.One of our friends is having a lot of health issues with her husband and has been down in the dumps. I purchased an encouraging card and had all our staff sign it so she knows we are here for her.
Saying Thank You
Submitted by Noniska on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 5:12pm.I was recently invited to sail at a member-supported yacht club with some friends. After sailing, the club hosted a Mexican-themed after-party and we were welcomed to stay. To thank the club and its members for their hospitality, my friends and I lended hands cooking, setting up, etc. The club members were very grateful, and it was rewarding to show our appreciation.
Pride
Submitted by Matt1460 on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 12:54pm.I spent a few days this weekend helping my cousin. She just got lap-band surgery and was told nothing of substance by her dietitian. Another cousin of mine happened by and told me of a similar situation when he visited a dietitian. Verbatim, he was told: "eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise more." It's a sad state of affairs when a student in the field has to supplement the shortcomings of certified professionals. Hopefully my advice helped them.
Feeding children
Submitted by hammie on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 12:07pm.A missionary from Peru spoke at our church service today. He talked about how children in their mission have to walk to school in their bare feel because they save their shoes to wear in school only since they are so expensive. They also have to wait in line everyday for food. After hearing him speak my heart was moved to donate to his collection in church. We just went to a professional baseball game yesterday and had all kinds of food at our disposal. Just doesn't seem fair that children go hungry.

helped two dogs
Submitted by Pufna on Thu, 07/09/2009 - 1:57pm.I am spending my summer at my grandparents in Serbia. Yesterday there were two deserted newborn puppies that my friends and I found in the field. We took them to a safe place under the stairs; we made a bed for them out of cardboards, brought them water and food, and stayed with them until it was late at night and we had to go home. That night it rained a lot, but the puppies were safe!
