Recycling

Followed today's suggested good deed and cleaned out three closets in my house so far.  Got together lots of clothes and household goods to donate to charities.  Hopefully, some of these nice things will help make other people happy.

Celebrating Birthdays

Took my mom to the nursing home she spent several weeks in this past summer to visit a friend of hers who was turning 97 that day.  It just so happened that right before we got there the lady had fallen and was really down in the dumps.   My mom's visit really cheered her up so it was nice to leave her after an hour or so long visit with a smile on her face.

Donating

I went to Borders two weeks ago (one of my favorite stores) and they had a program going on where you could buy a book for a child and they would donate it to them...I bought a book that day and have been doing the same everytime I'm at Borders.  Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I wanted to enable someone less fortunate than I to read and (ideally) love it...

Reducing my Carbon Footprint

I decided to stop using my dryer a week ago and now hang everything to dry - dryers use about 1.84 kg of CO2 per cycle and over a year, they average 330 kg of CO2 - trying to save the earth, one step at a time...

I told my buddy about aglobalgarden.com today and i told him how it makes you look for opportunities to help people out and what not, and i think he is going to join...hopefully many good deeds will come from our conversation.

Charity

CHARITY -- Now there's a word you don't hear much these days.  I was driving on a back road today when up ahead was a woman walking her dog.  There was no extra room on the side of the road for the woman -- a car was approaching from the other direction so I stopped to allow her room to continue her walk with her dog without having to go into the tall grass and weeds on the side of the road.  A very simple act -- she smiled and waved as a "thank you" and I did same in return.  Such a small, mundane thing to do -- but a million of these small, mundane thing

giving a helping hand

As I was going to the beach my cousin was carrying a cooler that looked heavy and an umbrella so I helped carry the umbrella.  He was grateful for the help.

Friendship

A very good friend of mine has a good friend dying from brain cancer.  She is staying with him until the end.  I lost one of my best friends to brain cancer 7 1/2 yrs ago, so I understand what she's going through.  She only stays with him (doesn't go out) and won't let anyone help (for fear of someone not doing things correctly).  He has a procedure in a couple weeks and while he is gone, I am going to his house to clean it from top to bottom (it has to be sanitized completely, like a clean room - to prevent infection).

sharing creative genius

i have a friend who helped me design the original 3 page blog site that represented AGlobalGarden.com for the first 6 months of its existence.  he recently reached out to me and offered his help if i ever needed any more help with designs/ideas.  it was perfect timing because i am currently re-designing AGlobalGarden.com to look and feel more like "Facebook" and "Twitter."  he is going to save me countless hours and dollars with his genuine and very creative help.  for a second time, he has made everything possible for me...
